Are The Jackal and Jack Carver the same person??
Back in 2004, a game was released called Far Cry. It's a first-person shooter that features large, luscious landscapes on a tropical island. The protagonist of the story is Jack Carver, who was going to go on vacation, and his boat was blown up, discovers that there is a mutant soldier project, and goes out to stop it, etc. Four years later, a game was released called Far Cry 2. this game, while it is indeed a sequel, is almost completely different from it's predecessor in every way. This installment takes place in an unnamed nation in Africa. You don't play as Jack this time around. So whats the connection between the two games? Well, the overlying objective in the game is to eventually supposed to kill a man named, "The Jackal", because he is an arms dealer making the region unstable. You encounter him several times throughout the course of the game, but you never actually complete your objective. He is remarkably similar to Jack Carver from the previous game. They are very similar in appearance, they both wear patterned red shirts, the list goes on. Also, the first Far Cry takes place in the future, while Far Cry 2 takes place in current times. At the end of Far Cry 2, The Jackal disappears. A while later, a man named Jack Carver turns up in the U.S., and not a lot is known about his past, which would make sense if he had been an arms dealer in Africa for a period of time. I believe that Jack Carver and the Jackal are one and the same. It would explain the connection between the two games, and why Far Cry 2 is a sequel, or rather, a prequel, instead of having a different title entirely.

ReplyDeleteI never thought about this at the time. You might be right about this. I think I need to replay far cry 2 and reevaluate the jackal
