The Advantages of Learning to Play a REAL Guitar as Opposed to Playing Guitar Hero/Rockband
At one point in my life, I was at a party, and like most parties of today, there was some Guitar Hero being played. People were showing off their fabulous skills that must have taken many hours to perfect. One instance I remember in particular was an exceptional fellow who was having problems because the projector was causing a delay, which hindered his ability to play. Nonetheless, he was able to complete "Through the Fire and Flames on the Expert difficulty setting. I myself am not a Guitar Hero/Rock Band expert, and I consider myself lucky if I am able to complete a song on medium in some cases. These people must have hundreds of hours of experience. They spend hundreds of hours perfecting an impressive skill that can only be applied under certain circumstances. At this point I began to wonder, what if all that time had been spent playing a real guitar? I myself have always been much more impressed by actual guitar playing rather than its virtual counterpart. It was this occurrence that prompted me to take up guitar playing. The learning curve for guitar is much steeper than it is for Guitar Hero/Rock Band, but the end result is much more rewarding, plus you don't need a TV, gaming console or plinky plonky plastic guitars to showcase your skills. All you need to have is a functioning guitar. plus, being able to play guitar allows you to play whatever music you want, rather than playing a pre-selected set of songs that cost you money if you wish to buy more. At this point in time, I am not a stellar guitar player. I also have not been playing very long, and you have to start somewhere, which is almost always the bottom.
